Find your USB device and vendor id

Under Linux

enter the command:
lsusb -vv
or plug in the device and enter the command:
dmesg

Under Windows

  1. From your Windows Desktop, click Start-> Run and type devmgmt.msc and click Ok
  2. Under Disk drives, locate and double click your "USB Flash Device":
    (ouf course your device may not be a 'Disk device', then find it in the appropriate category)

    Select your Flash Drive

  3. From the USB Device Properties window that opens, click the Details tab. Select the entry listed under the Device Instance ID Window and then press ctrl+c to copy the text:

    Device Instance ID
    It should look like: USB\VID_0718&PID_0432\078A175D050E
