A few days ago I installed Ampache, it is a really cool open source web based media server. It is very easy to install, not bloated at all and allows you to play your media everywhere you are.

I could not have done a better job. Ampache has a MySQL backend and has an option to stream media or play with a flash player. Supports on-the-fly conversion. Video play back works to, but my network is a bit to slow for HD quality. Click the screenshot!

Since we are going to make a small trip around the world later this year, I have developed a php script that combines log files from my gps logger (gps128q) with JPG photos. That way I am able to show where we've been and where photos were taken.

Check out the live demo or the software design still want more? Download the geotags source.

Update: Added Geocode support.

I wrote an object oriented RSS Feed Aggregator in PHP. Purpose of this program is to mix various RSS sources and combine them to a new RSS feed.

If you like you can download and install it. You only need to change the $watchlist array and the $use_curl option to get it up and running. This program supports both curl as fsockopen/file_get_contents.

It is released under GNU GPLv3 license and is free software. Schematics made in Dia.

For some time it is possible to auto-update blogs from BeNoCMS to Facebook/Twitter. But now I added a new feature to BeNoCMS called Social Update. It allows to post photos from within BeNoCMS to Facebook.

So now I can put photos from the photo gallery of barrydegraaff.tk straight to Facebook. I love it!

BeNoCMS goes Facebook

Today I wrote my very first computer game. It is written primarily in JavaScript. The nice part is that it uses HTML5 audio for playback (In Firefox, Chrome and Safari). Of course it also has CSS to display the game and a MySQL database for storing the high scores. Further a little bit of PHP.

It has what? Whatever, YOU can play the game. Download for educational purpose available.

Sometimes I just need a puzzle :-p

JavaScript Pong

Sorry I can't help myself but I have to post this nerdy joke.

Exploits of a mom

We've all seen tag clouds on the web, they look visually interesting and can tell you what's the most relevant keyword on a web site. I was thinking of implementing one on this site... but I found that tag clouds can be a bit of a pain- since now I find pages in Google Search, that don't contain any of the information I was looking for. The search words where only to be found in the tag cloud.

I can find any recommendation for this at W3 or an other web organisation, there is something on this in the HTML5 spec. But for now I let it rest.

Tag clouds

Here is a useless piece of JavaScript, that you can use to annoy your visitors. It may be even useful, because it makes the checkbox more noticeable. After the checkbox is clicked, it will stop blinking.
